I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

This is a set of 2 booklets, each containing numbers from 1 - 10. One has colored numbers and the other has bubble numbers that can be colored by students. Each booklet contains 12 pages: the title page with 11 additional pages. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. The colored version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the numbers. Both versions can be used for interactive notebook activities. 8 pages

One booklet contains text and illustrations and the other contains text only so students can sketch and create their own versions of the booklets. Each booklet contains 8 pages: the title page with 7 additional pages containing common Spanish words associated with September and school such as teacher, friends, lunch, bus, etc. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. Students first read and cut out the booklet that contains text and illustrations. They then sketch and create their own version using the text only template. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text. Both booklets make helpful additions to interactive notebooks. 6 pages

Students do the following activities: 1. Complete a 3 category chart: feelings words, names phrases, and greetings and leave takings words 2. Fill in the blanks of a 2-person dialogue 3. Compose their own greetings dialogue 4. Write feelings words under each of the 8 images When the dialogue is complete, students can practice and present it for speaking and pronunciation practice. Students research several areas associated with holidays and festivals celebrated in Spanish speaking countries. The areas are date/s, food, events, music and dance, location, religious celebrations, countries that celebrate the holiday, and history of the holiday. Included: 1. 15 different templates, each with a different holiday and the categories listed previously. This is a fun investigative activity for students that can be completed in Spanish or English. 2. One template without the name of a holiday or festival to give you the option of adding more of either. 3. Page that includes several suggestions for using the materials such as a Foreign Language Week activity, Spanish Club activity, or just a homework assignment, to name a few. This has been used very successfully as a substitute teacher lesson in the computer lab. It's a great research activity for use with iPads or other tablets. The holidays can be researched one at a time over a period of several weeks which makes this a download of 15 assignments, or you can divide and distribute all 15 different templates and have different students working on different countries at the same time. 19 pages

Students assemble a 4 x 4 bilingual Spanish/English vocabulary puzzle with common AR verbs. There are 21 different verbs used in the puzzle. Sample verbs are besar, cantar, caminar, mirar and buscar. Just photocopy enough for a class set (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paper clip.
